The Story of Janus
Last year one of our klub breeders decided to import a puppy from Poland to improve the gene pool in South Africa.
After careful consideration and communication with Kasia Hadynski from Gray Arrow Weimaraners, we managed to secure a male puppy from their kennel. Gray Arrow weimaraners have bred many world champions through the years. The last 2 being at the world dog show in Helsinky 2025 and the world dog show in Bologna 2026.
Janus ( Let the show begin Gray Arrow) arrived in South Africa at 5 months of age. He has since showed his worth by winning best puppy of breed on many occasions, got awarded 2025 puppy of the year in SA, followed by best Junior and eventually at the young age of 20 months became a breed champion and qualified for Crufts 2027.
Janus not only showed his talents in the showring with his near perfect conformation, but also take part in training for field work where his natural drive and ability to range and recover prey is a testament to his breed.
He has recently sired a litter of 10 healthy pups with breed champion Aurora ( Pheasants fancy Beletech).
We are very excited too see how this special litter will turn out.

Non champion show 1 Feb 2026
Our annual non champion show will be held on 1February 2026.
This event is open for entries of all Weimaraners, not only Kusa registered dogs.
Entries on the day from 8am, R60 per class. judging will start at 9am.
We will also have a raffle as usual with great prizes on offer.

We had a great social outing at wilgepoort with 10 Weimaraners and 2 Vislas.
It was a good learning experience for the 12 week old puppy that joined us!!!

Kusa members portal termination of online payments

KUSA Members transacting via the KUSA Members’ Portal
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO KUSA MEMBERS WHO USE THE KUSA ONLINE MEMBERS’ PORTAL TO SUBMIT ONLINE APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS, AFFIX RENEWALS AND DOG/LITTER REGISTRATIONS.
As a result of an unforeseen development, the processing of Credit Card payments for online applications via the Members’ Portal will be terminated at the end of October 2025. Following a buy-out of the business, the payment gateway Service Provider for KUSA’s online transactions has given its customers 30-day notice of termination of service.
The sudden loss of the payment gateway service, currently integrated into both the existing Members’ Portal and the new portal under development, is not only a significant setback, but also presents technological challenges which are impossible to resolve in the short term. After careful consideration, the Federal Council ultimately endorsed the KUSA Office’s recommendation that the new payment gateway technology only be integrated into the new portal. Retrofitting it to the old Members’ Portal, that has reached the end of its shelf-life, would be an unnecessary costly expense and would hamper and constrain the progress being made with the development of the future platform.
Users of the current Members’ Portal are hereby advised, that as from 31 October 2025 members will no longer have access to the links to submit online applications for services like Membership Renewal, Affix Applications, Litter Registration Applications and Single Dog Registration Applications.
Until further notice, Members are requested to submit their duly completed and signed application forms to the KUSA Office, via email, at applications@kusa.co.za. This should be done in one email with all supporting documentation attached, including proof of payment for all fees due. All application forms are available for download from the KUSA website. Alternatively, send an email to info@kusa.co.za requesting a copy of the application form required.
Please note, that Members will continue to be able to log into the Members’ Portal, to view their contact details, membership and affix status, transaction history, judging history, litters bred, and dogs registered, as well as use the Trial Mating (5-generation pedigree) tool and upload images of dogs registered.
Work is well underway to install the new payment gateway on to the new online transaction system. All development resources remain committed to deliver an effective and stable new platform as soon as practicable.
We apologise most profusely for any inconvenience caused by the unexpected termination of online transactions for a period of time, as yet undetermined.

Jodev farm walk 5 october 2025
A lovely walk at Jodev farm in the beautiful cradle of mankind. We did the 3km loop which was perfect for the 5month old puppies. Lots of time to socialize and swim in the 2 dams. a record number of 18 dogs attended and everyone agreed they will look forward to the next event.
Registration of imported dogs with KUSA
| AMENDMENTS TO THE REGULATIONS FOR REGISTRATION OF IMPORTED DOGS EFFECTIVE 01.10.2025 We bring to your attention amendments to the Regulations for the registration of imported dogs that come into effect on 1 October 2025. Additional supporting documentation* will be required to be attached to the application form. Application for Registration of a Single Dog – BREED Register – version Oct 2025, will be the only application form accepted. The application form is available for download from the KUSA website (https://www.kusa.co.za/index.php/kusa-members/forms-documents/single-dog-registration) Any dog registered in and imported from a country where the National Canine Organisation (NCO) is either recognised by KUSA by virtue of its membership of the FCI or, in the case of non-FCI countries, where KUSA has reciprocal arrangements with the NCO, may be re-registered by KUSA, if application requirements are fully met. Given the proliferation of unofficial “registries” all over the world, it is of paramount importance to check whether the NCO in the exporting country is indeed the NCO recognised by KUSA. The Application Form, Supporting Documentation, Proof of Payment and Courier Delivery Form must be sent in a single email to applications@kusa.co.za To download the Courier Delivery Form, click here (Courier Order Form) All imported dogs must be microchipped and have a standardised international marker DNA Profile before acceptance for registration on any KUSA BREED Register. The following mandatory supporting documentation must accompany each application form: 1) A Certified Three-generation Export Pedigree issued by the National Canine Organisation, which is in reciprocity with or recognised by KUSA. Export Pedigrees issued by FCI National Canine Organisations (NCOs) must accompany the application in original format. In the case of a dog imported from Germany, the Certified Three-generation Pedigree issued by the applicable Breed Club shall be supported by the “Certification for Foreign Registration” issued by the Verband für das Deutsche Hundewesen (VDH), in original format. 2) A copy of the standardised international marker DNA Profile Certificate. 3) Proof of compliance with breed specific requirements*. 4) Where not stated on the Export Pedigree, a Certificate of Transfer of Registered Ownership. 5) *The Animal Improvement Act (AIA) Permit for importation of animals issued by the Directorate of Animal Production. 6) *The Veterinary Import Permit issued by the Directorate of Animal Health in terms of the Animal Disease Act. 7) *The Transport Waybill with the date of arrival of the dog in South Africa. 8) *The State Veterinarian Clearance Certificate. 9) Proof of Payment (R627.00 plus courier fee, depending on the courier service required). *Breed Specific Requirements for imported dogs and imported semen. Proof that the dog is CLEAR for specified hereditary conditions as listed in Schedule 02 Appendix E, must be submitted for the registration of an imported dog or registration of a litter from imported donor semen in respect of the following breeds: Irish (Red) Setters; Irish Red & White Setters; Gordon Setters; Retriever (Labrador) and Rottweilers. Registration of litters from bitches imported in whelp It should be noted that, for the registration of litters from bitches imported in whelp, a Certified Three-generation Pedigree of the Sire of the litter, issued by the National Canine Organisation in the country of origin of the Sire, shall accompany every application for registration of progeny whelped in the KUSA area of jurisdiction. In the case of a mating or artificial insemination having taken place in a foreign country, the National Canine Organisation which is recognised by the KUSA (as clarified above), the following must be provided for KUSA’s scrutiny and acceptance: A separate Mating Certificate or Certificate of Artificial Insemination, signed by the owner of the Sire, the Veterinarian and any Witness to the mating or artificial insemination in the country of origin. Either Certificate must be fully completed and reflect the essential details of the Sire, the essential details of the Bitch, and the date(s) on which the mating(s) or insemination(s) had taken place. In such cases the name(s) of the owner(s) of the Sire must correspond with the details reflected on the Certificate of Registered Ownership issued by the foreign National Canine Organisation. Breed-specific Requirements for Litter Registration In the case of the following breeds, Alaskan Malamute; Dobermann; German Shepherd Dog; Giant Schnauzer; Rhodesian Ridgeback; Rottweiler; Weimaraner; Biewer Terrier and South African Mastiff, the Breed-specific Litter Registration Requirements as specified in Schedule 02 Appendix C must also be met.
